The deal ain't over until it's over. Announcing a cancellation of it could simply be one of the steps to acquisition taken due to controversy over fake Twitter accounts. They will go to court where depositions will be ordered about Twitter's practices, and after that, a settlement might be announced where Musk buys Twitter at a somewhat lower price than initially offered. Very possible.
