Supply Chain Will Collapse if Biden and Trudeau’s Vaccine Mandates for Truckers Stands

The Supreme Court rejected Biden’s vaccine mandate and the trucking industry is celebrating the small win. But were not out of the woods yet. Canadian Justin Trudeau’s vaccine mandate for truckers entering his country will ruin the supply chain if something isn’t done soon.

Before I get to that though, it’s important to celebrate the small victory the Supreme Court granted us. In an announcement about the squashed “vaccine or test” mandate for employers, President and CEO of the American Trucking Association (ATA) Chris Spear, said the ruling was “a tremendous victory on behalf of the trucking industry and workers and employers everywhere.”

“Today’s ruling by the Supreme Court validates our claim that OSHA far overstepped its authority in issuing an emergency temporary standard that would interfere with individuals’ private health care decisions,” Spear added.

Not only are truckers crucial for food and commodities, but the delivery of medical supplies is one of the most important parts of the job.

Spears said, “Thanks to this ruling, our industry will continue to deliver critical goods as our nation recovers from the pandemic and we move our economy forward.”

However, this ruling doesn’t solve all of the supply chain issues. Trudeau’s and Biden’s mandate for truckers entering and leaving the country are setting up a huge spanner at the U.S-Canadian border. Get ready for more empty shelves as their mandates keep the supply chain from returning to functioning at full capacity.

The Canadian government wants all truck drivers to be fully vaccinated and are preventing anyone who has resisted the jab, from entering or leaving the country.

Trudeau’s strict covid policies are set to hinder nearly $700 billion in trade and will collapse the supply chain between the United States and Canada if these policies continue.

Up until January 15, there was a reported 30,000 truckers, crossing between Canada and the U.S who had not yet produced their paperwork showing proof of vaccination.

“Beginning January 15, truckers will be required to show proof of vaccination upon entering Canada,” reported The Post Millennial. “The same mandate for truckers entering the United States from Canada goes into effect on January 22.”

The President of the Private Motor Truck Council (PMTC) Mike Milliam, told the Lynwood Times that the mandates are going to make shortages already being experienced, far worse.

“Seventy-percent of the $700 billion in trade between Canada and the U.S. is moved by truck,” Milliam said.

“This will have a dramatic effect on supplies and services reaching their destination and getting in the hands of those who need them. One needs to look no further than the recent U.K. fuel shortage, where the military had to be brought in to deliver fuel as a result of a lack of truck drivers. We are already seeing shortages; if these shortages reach critical levels on items such as fuel, food, blood medicine or medical supplies, we will see real, long-lasting damage.”

Milliam questioned the logic of such mandates, pointing out that the mandates out in place to ‘keep us safe’, are actually doing far more damage to hospitals and clinics and are putting people’s lives in danger.

“We understand the governments are putting these mandates in place in order to protect our health,” Milliam added.

“If we start seeing shortages of medical supplies in our hospitals because we’ve mandated drivers to get vaccinated, how much is that going to affect people’s health? The idea may be good in one direction but I don’t think we’ve really looked at its effects on health and safety on the other side.”

As we head deeper into 2022, the growing inflation under the Biden Administration is going to hit Americans in the pocket, and with the disintegrating supply chain, it doesn’t seem to be getting any better, any time soon.
