The fact that the BIS is so heavily involved in national digital currency programs suggests that the ultimate goal of CBDCs will be an eventual global digital currency...

One of the things that keeps the whole fiat game going is that when people lose confidence in one fiat, they jump ship to another fiat. If a global fiat CBDC is ever instituted, replacing all national currencies, the game of fiat jumping will be over, and investors will need to find another alternative to the global currency, and they will find things. Might be gold, silver crypto, commodities or stocks, but they WILL find it. So a global CBDC would be resisted in that way.
