San Francisco will have spent $1.1 billion on homelessness in the fiscal year 202122, which is more than many cities' whole operating budgets. But homelessness, crime, drug abuse, and the quality of life in the city have just gotten worse.
According to an analysis by the Hoover Institute, since the fiscal year 201617, San Francisco has spent more than $2.8 billion on homelessness, yet year after year, the number of homeless in the city proceeds to spike as do opioid overdoses, which outnumber Covid deaths as the city has become one of the most dangerous in the US.

Divide $1.1 billion by 842,000. That works out to $1,3000 spent on the homeless per man woman and child. Cheaper to fly the homeless to NYC, Seattle, Hawaii, etc.Pay for 6 months hotel bill.
