The combination of Lipitor (cholesterol) and Gemfibrozil (triglycerides) did in my step-dad in 2006. I think they called it rhabdomyolysis. His muscles dissolved and he pissed them out. Harold was a big man, not fat, strong. He got to the point where he couldn't lift a gallon of milk. He said it was very painful.

Anyway, I thought this list was interesting.

Actually aldactazide is a combo of 2 diuretics and aldactone is a mild diuretic that was noted to cause estrogen like side effects in men, particularly breast enlargement.

I remember in the mid-90s when our Pfizer rep(who never brought enough pizza and never anything but pizza) was on cloud nine, Pfizer was lobbying state legislatures to allow municipalities to infuse city water supplies with lipitor. No, I am not writing for the Babylon Bee. Drug reps tend to be pretty little things with dollar signs for brains and no common sense.

I have been arguing for years that statins are too toxic for the elderly. Their most common side effect is muscle damage manifesting as muscle pain and weakness. This leads to increased falls and THAT is what kills the elderly.

I've seen them. It's a good thing I wasn't an MD. I really like the gals.

My step-dad's adventures with MDs and pills was tragic. He had skin problems that started later in his life. The pills made it worse. It was like whole-body poison ivy. Somehow I figured out he became allergic to the water (probably 4um). I put whole-house water filters in with GAC (granular activated carbon) filters and KDF (kinetic degradation fluxion) filters on their shower heads. I put in a reverse osmosis system in their kitchen for drinking water.

It fixed the problem. Not too bad for somebody pretending to be a plumber. I left him as a pretty corpse, anyway.
