One-third of Americans agree with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's contention that a "national divorce" to separate red and blue states from each other is needed, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll.

According to the poll of 1,000 likely voters, 34% agreed with the Georgia Republican's Twitter statement last month that "we need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government," including 14% who said they strongly agreed.

However, most voters, at 57%, said they do not agree with Greene's call, including 43% who said they strongly disagree; 26% of Democrats and 27% of voters who are unaffiliated with either party said they agree, compared to 47% of Republicans.

Those who disagree with Greene: 42% of Republicans, 67% of Democrats, and 63% of independents; 9% said they are not sure.

Men (40%) are significantly more likely than women voters (27%) to at least somewhat agree that America needs a "national divorce."

Black voters, at 38%, were more likely than white voters or those of other minorities to agree with Green's call, compared to 33% for non- Black voters.

The number of blue versus red states in the United States is almost evenly divided, with 29 states being led by Republican governors. Further, 24 states voted for Republicans in the last four presidential elections and 27 states voted red in the 2022 Senate races, The Daily Mail noted n reporting on the poll.

In other findings in the poll, conducted Feb. 21-23 and carrying a 3- point margin of error, those surveyed were also divided on who they blame for political division:

41% blame Democrats.
32% blame Republicans.
25% believe both parties are about equally to blame.
29% of Democratic blame their own party.
15% of GOP voters say Republicans are to blame.
60% of Republicans blame Democrats.
46% of Democrats blame Republicans.
34% of unaffiliated voters blame Democrats; 33% blame Republicans; and 27% say both parties are to blame.

Meanwhile, most Democrats polled rate President Joe Biden as doing a good or excellent job in uniting the country:

60% of Democrats rate Biden as doing a good or excellent job.
12% of Republicans say he's doing a good job.
28% of unaffiliated voters agree.
77% percent of Republicans, 22% of Democrats, and 53% of unaffiliated voters gave Biden a poor rating on uniting Americans.
