Trump posted to his social media platform Truth Social, “Congratulations to Tucker Carlson on one of the biggest ‘scoops’ as a reporter in US history. The new surveillance footage of the January 6th events sheds an entirely different light on what actually happened.” “The Unselect Committee was a giant SCAM and has now unequivocally been stamped as CRIMINAL FABRICATORS OF THIS MOST IMPORTANT DAY,” Trump added. “Pelosi and McConnell failed on security, Trump continued. “The police story is sad and difficult to watch.” The former President concluded, “’Trump’ and most others are totally innocent. LET THEM GO FREE NOW.” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) gave Carlson over 40,000 hours of security camera footage from the Capitol Building last month that had not been revealed to the public for over two years. The Fox News host said the videos prove that politicians and the media were "lying" about the events that occurred on Jan. 6. The footage revealed by Carlson on Monday night showed Trump supporters peacefully looking around the building and cueing up in lines. Carlson referred to them as "sightseers." One of the figures brought up repeatedly by Democrats and the media is US veteran named Jacob Chansley, dubbed the QAnon Shaman. Chansley was portrayed as a violent insurrectionist and sentenced to 4 years in prison for his trespassing crimes. However, as Carlson showed on Monday night, that depiction of Chansley as a lawbreaking rioter intent on mayhem was far from the truth. However, as Carlson explained, "The footage does not show an insurrection or a riot in progress. Instead, it shows police escorting protesters to the building, including the now infamous QAnon Shaman." Carlson added, “Virtually every moment of his time inside the Capitol was caught on tape. The tape shows the Capitol Police never stopped Jacob Chansley. They helped him they acted as his tour guides… and even try to open locked doors for him. We counted at least nine officers who are within touching distance of unarmed Jacob Chansley not one of them even tried to slow him down." "Chansley understood that Capitol Police were his allies. Video shows him giving thanks for them in a prayer on the floor of the Senate," Carlson continued. Carlson also revealed footage proving Officer Brian Sicknick was alive, healthy, and walking around on duty in the Capitol on Jan 6 after Democrats claimed he had been killed. "Brian Sicknick should not be reduced to a prop for the political ambitions of the Democratic Party,” Carlson noted. “He was a human being the facts of his life matter, including how he died. To this day media accounts describe Sicknick as someone who was 'slain' on January 6, the video we reviewed proves that is a lie. Here's surveillance footage of Sicknick walking in the capitol after he was supposedly murdered by the mob outside.” In April of 2021, it was confirmed that Brian Sicknick died of natural causes, but Democrats and members of the media continued to spread the lie that his death was at the hands of rioters. Some of the footage released Monday also showed Ray Epps, the man caught on video encouraging Trump supporters to enter the Capitol building the night before the Jan. 6 riot. He is seen on the grounds at least 30 minutes after the time he originally claimed when he testified before the House Select Committee about a text he sent his nephew earlier in which Epps claimed he was heading back to his hotel.
