So, the past few years of America’s dark descent have come down to this? After the manufactured hysteria and authoritarian power grabs of COVID, after the fraudulent presidential election of 2020, amid the continuing persecution of hundreds of January 6 protestors, and amid the continuing censorship, warmongering, political and financial corruption, racial and gender obsessions, and ubiquitous, insidious cultural rot that have wrecked the American family, society, standard of living, democratic system, and global reputation—after all that, now we reportedly are going to have the bogus, politically motivated arrest of a populist former president of the United States that the leftist, globalist, corporatist establishment despises? Even if Trump’s arrest does not happen, the mere serious consideration of it by a real-criminal-coddling left-wing black DA is bad enough.
What does all this mean? From my perspective as a lower-middle-class, old, straight, white guy who longs for the lost, freer times of the 1970s, it means that the United States of America is now just about as dead as George Washington’s corpse. The U.S. Constitution is gone, flushed down the toilet and decaying in some stinking sewer, never again to see the light of day. The world-renowned political, economic, and cultural capitals of American decadence—in Washington, New York, and Hollywood—are extraordinarily happy, because they have decisively achieved victory!
This is what we have come to, in my estimation. And while the leftists and—very inappropriately named—“liberals” have been carefully, methodically, strategically, deviously, and intelligently orchestrating all of these dastardly and destructive deeds—beginning many decades ago— the self-proclaimed, so-called “conservatives,” “libertarians,” “patriots,” and “freedom lovers” have watched it unfold in front of their eyes and stupidly and compliantly allowed it all to happen. Why?
I have not observed much vigorous fighting-back against any of these profoundly infuriating developments, except from Trump, a handful of other political figures, a small number of talking heads (primarily Carlson), and a few political websites and organizations. The January 6, 2021 protest in D.C. was the most inspiring and hopeful recent event I have observed, but its main problem was that it was not a real “insurrection,” as it was falsely characterized by the mainstream media. I wish that it had been! The meager efforts from the right at fighting back have been pitifully ineffective, as we see that the left is now in firm control of essentially every large institution and establishment in the country.
So, I ask this plain, simple, and direct question: Why are conservatives so stupid? And a side question is: Why are conservative so weak and timid? I honestly am struggling to determine and understand the answers to these questions. I think I might know some answers, but not the full story. I thought that perhaps you, the reader, might have some insights to share.
One possible explanation I have thought of has to do with religion. It is said that conservatives are more religious than leftists (I refuse to use the term “liberals,” because people on the left today are the exact opposite of liberals; they are strict intolerant authoritarians). Thus, I hypothesize that religion, overwhelmingly Christianity, gives conservatives an inherent faith and eternal optimism that, no matter how bad things get, somehow it will all turn around and things will eventually get better. They are convinced that God is on America’s side, and He will certainly eventually provide whatever is needed. I suspect that this faith in an omniscient and omnipotent God makes conservatives feel that they don’t need to fight back too much.
In an alternative explanation, I know that some Christians believe we are currently living in the “End Times.” They see all the dreadful, decadent things happening in this country and the rest of the world, and they have become convinced that this evil world will soon come to an end. Then, they will get raptured to Heaven and live in eternal bliss. Well, if that is your belief, there is obviously no point in trying too hard to correct problems in this world.
I have also observed that many conservatives seem to be purposefully self-delusional. This tendency is probably related to their eternal optimism. They seem unable to clearly comprehend and acknowledge the direness of the situation, despite their repeated political, societal, and cultural defeats. I have observed this since the 1990s, with repeated “This is the most important and consequential election of our lifetime” warnings from talking heads like Levin and Hannity. “If Bill Clinton gets elected, that will be the end of our country as we know it!” . . . “If Obama gets elected, that will be the end of our country as we know it!” . . . “If Biden gets elected, that will be the end of our country as we know it!”
Well, those dire warnings were basically accurate, as these presidents and their policies have fundamentally altered and twisted America, transforming it into the unrecognizable place that it is today. Yet, those same right-wing commentators are still today not clearly articulating the fact that America, “as we used to know it,” is indeed gone. Their attitude seems to be akin to the idea that it is still the 1980s, and all it will take is a new Reagan to turn things around again. This is what I see as their self-delusion. They warn that bad things will come when a certain thing happens. But then when that thing does happen, they seem to think that things are not as bad as they had warned —but they will be next time! You can be assured that those right-wing talking heads will issue the same “end of our country as we know it” warning for the next doomed election, only to again go into denial afterward.
This perpetual 1980s’ delusion is evident in the way the Levin-Hannity- Plante-Shapiro-etc “Reagan zombies” still view large American corporations and American foreign policy. They seem unable to fully grasp that Wall Street and almost all big American-based private corporations are now pushing the woke, leftist, ESG, DEI agenda as the major part of their marketing, branding, and investment strategies. These corporations are no friends to conservative values! The only way they are “conservative” is in their greedy conserving and expanding of their profits.
The Reagan zombies are also clearly stuck in the 1980s with their view of the world. They still think Russia is the old communist Soviet Union, and the zombies are now using this warped perspective to justify their support for sending massive, endless amounts of money and weapons to Ukraine. In their severe state of delusion, they simply cannot see or accept the fact that Russia is on the righteous, conservative side today, while the United States is now the wicked, leftist, global menace. So, supporting Ukraine in this war amounts to supporting the advance of the left’s ESG, DEI, globalist agenda. It is the opposite of supporting “freedom” and “democracy.” Time to wake up and see today’s reality, conservatives! The geopolitical and moral roles of the United States and Russia are now the reverse of what they were in the 1980s, but the delusional Reagan zombies do not or cannot see this.
While conservatives maintain their self-righteous aggressive warmongering in foreign countries, along with their leftist, globalist collaborators in those endeavors, at home they act unconfident, unassertive, timid, and weak in the face of the powerful domestic leftist onslaught.
Most conservatives in any position of power or influence in America have seemingly been uninterested in or, at best, useless at stopping the steady advance of the anti-freedom leftist program. They have allowed the fascist COVID crackdowns and mandates to crush freedom and ruin lives. They have allowed our elections to be blatantly and boldly stolen. They have allowed the worsening corruption of the justice system, the education system, and the immigration system. They have allowed the insidious ESG DEI BS to spread everywhere. They have allowed destructive racial, gender, and environmental propaganda to dominate the culture. They have allowed censorship and suppression of dissent to expand and harden. They have allowed drug addiction, sexual perversion, violent crime, and other cultural decadence to become increasingly common and normalized. They have allowed the accelerating erosion of the American family and the American standard of living. They have allowed America’s culture of violence and decadence to spread around the world via imperialism, globalism, and proxy wars.
In short, conservatives may talk a lot about “freedom” and “values,” but they do little or nothing effective to correct the worsening situation. Thus, they must be either stupid or complicit. Probably both.
This is why everything everywhere is f—– up today.
It is difficult to understand how all these horrible things could have happened to the once-free United States, and how people who purportedly love and care about this country (ie, conservatives) could have allowed it all to happen.
So, I reiterate my question for you: Why are conservatives so stupid?
