JUST 32% SAY BIDEN DESERVES REELECTION, DOWN 5 POINTS PUBLISHED ON APRIL 6, 2023
A CNN poll has found that only 32 percent of Americans believe former President Joe Biden should be reelected, which is five points less than the December survey.
Although Biden is not a popular choice, 54% of Democrats believe he should be reelected. However, 54% said that they would prefer someone else to be the nominee for 2024. Only 44% believe he should be the nomination.
CNN polls have shown that Democrats are not united in their decision on who should replace him. CNN reported:
About 7 out 10 people in the group said they simply wanted to see Biden. No candidate has been named by more that 5% of those searching for an alternative nominee. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is at 5%, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is at 4%, Vice President Kamala Hari and former first lady Michelle Obama are at 3% and 3% respectively, while California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren are each at 2%.
Democratic-aligned voters are divided on whether Biden (49%) would give the party a better chance or with another candidate (49%). This question is supported by Democratic-aligned voters over 65. 65% of them believe Biden would be a better candidate than anyone else. 61% of those under 45 agree with Biden.
The Thursday poll also revealed that most Americans dont trust Biden and do not believe him to have the mental ability to solve problems. According to the poll:
A poll found that Bidens negative perceptions persist across a variety of personal attributes. Majorities say he lacks the stamina and sharpness necessary to serve as president (67%), inspires confidence (54%), and cares little about others like them (54%). The Americans are split more on whether Biden can work with Congress effectively 48% believe he can, 51% say he cannot.
With a margin of error of 3.3 points, the poll included 1,595 Americans.
