I learned yesterday that a family member has decided to join the marines.

I immediately called his mother (my cousin by marriage) and asked to speak with her husband. He's a firefighter and was at work, so she called him and had him call me.

I told him that half of Gulf War One vets are disabled and over 8000 have already died, the Pentagon's own depleted uranium expert (Maj. Doug Rokke) is sick and half of his team (who went to Iraq to clean up) are dead, I told him that 67% of the babies born to one ALA National Guard unit after returning home have been stillborn and/or grotesquely deformed, that the boy may still change his mind and back out of his enlistment, an after pleading my case I felt that I got exactly nowhere.

So, this morning I called my father-in-law and went through it again, and I asked him to GOOGLE a few things up.

If anyone can get the boy to re-think his decision, my Dad-in-law can.

Because the boy's dad is a firefighter (a govt employee) and is a "good, law abiding, tax paying citizen", he'll no doubt have some difficulty getting his mind around all the things I told him.

And, as I explained to my father-in-law, if I don't succeed in snatching this young man away from The Crotch (marines) and he comes back sick or worse, then his parents will die of broken hearts because I tried to warn them.

If I don't succeed then it would have been better if I'd kept my mouth shut!

When I first explained the criminal federal reserve system and the income tax swindle many years ago, this large, Polish Catholic family thought that I was a communista subversio, but, fortunately many of them are now up to speed on that issue. (It took years and I don't have enough time to leisurely educate them about depleted uranium)

I've never told the family the whole truth-that our govt is a criminal syndicate in open rebellion against the people and the constitution, and that our govt is killing and crippling more of our people than the enemy ever could.

I saw no reason to tell them that there is no Easter bunny until one of ours expressed the intent to join up.

Most of the family are life long conservative Dems and Dixiecrats, union members, state or municipal govt employees and contractors, and this means that the only way I could make my case was to piss on the altar. And piss I did! Like a racehorse on LASIX!

My Dad in-law said that the recruiter promised the boy that he'd stay stateside, and the recruiter even put it in writing! I told Dad that it was only recently that a federal court (maybe the SCOTUS, I don't recall) ruled that recruiters may lie with impunity to recruits. Dad didn't know that! Okay, I scored a point!

I said that all the boy has to do is tell the recruiter (who will threaten the boy when he tries to back out-I've been through this and beaten the recruiters before) that he isn't going, and to call the lying bastards' bluff!!

The marines cannot forcibly induct a reluctant recruit on the strength of a civil contract! If they want to sue the kid for breach of contract, then they must first demonstrate that the contract was effected by consideration and it wasn't! And, even if it was, my answer is, "SUE US! Let's break that story on the national news and see how that impacts your recruitment goals!"

(And, we haven't yet told the recruiter about how every time the kid handled a gun something strange happened! It was almost like he was possessed! And, because he did the most dangerous and unpredictable things with a .22 rifle, we resolved years ago to never let him handle any more firearms, especially powerful, rapid fire weapons! ;)

In other words, the boy can still change his mind and save his own life.

I can't save the world, but, I want to stop this kid from making the biggest mistake he'll ever make.

Finally, I told both Dads that even if the boy gets lucky and serves his enlistment and never gets irradiated or shot or injured by equipment failure (imagine high school dropouts trying to maintain tilt-rotor V-22 Ospreys! Would you want your kid to fly in one that was serviced by a failed rapper?) and he returns home safe, he won't have any health benefits because BushCo has closed 7 VA Hospitals and is sending the loot for vets' health care to Halliburton!

Please God, help me get through to this kid.

Dear Friends,

Well, I heard back about my plea to stop my nephew from enlisting: "The websites were interesting, we're touched by your sincere concern and very much appreciate it, BUT THE BOY HAS HIS HEART SET ON GOING IN THE MARINES!"

Why is he doing this?

It's a jungle over there.

I mean, let's set aside the issue of deadly DU for a moment. The corps has entire street gangs serving together, and none of them are white. Because the boy won't be attending any of the Friday night keggers and rape parties with the others, they'll most certainly shun and despise him.

This little, sheltered choir boy is in for a shock to his nervous system so severe that I already fear for him.

I mean, would you let someone strap you in, give you acid and force you to watch pure horror? If news reports are to be believed then our young sons and daughters are being exposed to ghastly trauma.

No young American who joined with honorable intentions should be forced to witness, never mind participate in these unspeakable acts. And, once the kids' minds are irreversibly impressed, some folks back home think it's best if we dispose of them like battle trained dogs for which there could never be a loving family and a warm spot in front of the fireplace.

Jesus these people are stupid.

Damn.

Just seeing what war does to bodies physically should be a wake-up call to normal, healthy people, let alone all the other bs.

Just this am on CNN, they were discussing the marines that 'allegedly' killed all the civilians at Haditha. Apparently, there is a young marine who is going through PTSD badly. He had the happy chore of picking up a young child's body to put in a body bag--apparently a headshot/head wound victim--and the little thing's brains poured out all between his legs. They spoke to mother and she was telling of how difficult it is for him.

Hell yes it would be horriffic! Why do people suppose that war veterans don't like to or want to talk about their 'adventures' over there......men and women are taught how to kill the 'enemy'---never in their wildest dreams is the 'enemy' a 3 - 4 year old kid, or some elderly stoved up woman.

You did your best, dawg, in warning them. Just like with Christianity, you can provide information, but you can't make them believers.........

Very true, dee. My father had nightmares for years after WW2 (he was in the Pacific for the full duration). Not only did he go through the horrors of seeing the guys around him killed, but he also saw atrocities committed on civilians and nurses, etc, by the Japanese. He used to wake up screaming for many years after that. He rarely talked about this stuff, and when he did, the stories were bizarre. I think he tried to focus on the humorous ones but even those had an edge.

My boyfriend's father was a partisan fighting in the woods of Russia and the Polish areas against the Nazis. Most of his family was killed and he himself was attacked by the Nazis, but somehow escaped and survived. He still has problems from head injuries received then. He rarely talks about the war. It was too terrible.

A friend of mine served in Vietnam - a brave and honorable Marine. He is another one who has great difficulty talking about what he saw and experienced. They push these things way down.

Your acquaintance with their experiences parallels those of mine....surely, our people are different, in my case, my favorite uncle rather than father, and friends/acquaintances who were WWII and Nam.

My uncle adored his nieces and nephews, but the change that would come over him whenever one of our would ask about the war was noticeable---and we never heard about the things that haunted him when he fell asleep at night that his wife had a small inkling of based on his waking up terrified or sick.

My uncle was raised on a farm and knew about death and dying because of livestock; and elderly grandparents or great grandparents living with them. He wasn't prepared for sights like young, vibrant people who lay dead or dying with body parts stewn all over hell and back.

Nowadays our young people only know death from video games or movies where after a week from seeing John Doe having his blood splattered all over and dying is now starring in some movie where he is doing the maiming and killing.

Thinking about this is so chilling, mehitable. Especially when one considers that a few years back, there was a special report about youth killings. They interview 4 teenagers in jail in Florida for killing people. When a 14 or 15 year old tells you that he killed because he wanted to see what it was really like...........looking at these young killers eyes, you could see there was no soul or conscience in them.
