I'm thinking of going for this puter deal:

tinyurl.com/4wndtcz2

Condition is "Used, start up and boot to bios no further testing was done" -- can I assume they're ready to boot to Windows?

As it doesn't seem to say windows is on the system, it may not be loaded at all. That laptop could run windows or linux. And if it never did more than boot to bios, then it suggests that it doesn't have windows on it. I'd ask that question.

Though if it were me, I wouldn't care, as I'd put linux on it myself.

Not a factor, Ping -- I'd put my SSD in one of his P875-S7200 models. Been my laptop of choice for over a decade ;)

Then windows should work on it with no problem. Just a matter of either installing it or booting from an external drive, if that's possible these days.

Thanks. Incidentally while others are finagling backup to the cloud, onto external drives etc I just clone my solid state drive (formerly HDD) onto another one with a docking station. No restoration needed EVAH.

No restoration needed EVAH.

That does protect against crashed drives, yes, which is quite good. Though sometimes operating systems just need to be completely purged and reset.

Yes, computer stuff continues to get easier to deal with.

That's a heap of shit.

4GB of RAM won't run much. Also, heed the reviews, suspect site.

For that money at microcenter.com you'll get a lot more for that price.

Search on laptops and sorry by price. They are some nice Dells and a HP with 8 & 16 GB of RAM for between $249 and $279 that will definitely accommodate Windows 10 & 11 if you want it. Not sure what they're installed with.

I'm sure my Windows could use a reset, but reinstalling and re-entering all my stuff would be well nigh impossible.

I'll use the S7200 till I die. Have 4 units of it, this will be 2 more if all goes according to plan. Hell, they'll all prolly outlive me. But thanks for microcenter -- could come in handy sometime.

Seller's got 98.5% positive ratings. Are you referring to Ebay?

No, not referring to e-bay.

The PC. 4GB RAM is antiquated, I'm surprised that it ruins anything but the basics.

You can get MUCH more laptop for the same money.

Amazon has several Mac Book laptops for less than $300 ready to use.

I'm sure.

My point was that I wouldn't even consider buying one with only 4 GBs of RAM. Especially since for the same price or so you can get one with 8 or 16 GBs of RAM.
