The crowd at the 2023 Indianapolis 500 was expected by race officials to be one of the biggest in race history, and so far it has not disappointed. Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles said earlier this week that it would be nearly sold out, with about 230,000 tickets sold. And that was not counting the Snake Pit or infield. Check out the massive crowd through the eyes of our photojournalists and reporters on scene: Poster Comment: 33 alcohol burning cars running open headers about a mile away. 300,000 drunken fans. Helicopters. Blue Angels. Hookers. Fire Trucks. I couldn't hear any of it over the Mexicans a block away. Ok, I heard the Blue Angels for a second while they were right over my house...

When I drove the straight truck out of Chicago in late 90s, we would pick up imported tires and take them to Akron, Ohio. We had to stack the tires on their sidewalls otherwise they would get flat spots if the were stacked on their treads. Akron was tire capitol of the US back in the day. Coals to Newcastle is the phrase that come to mind.

I'm not really from Indianapolis, I am from Kokomo, up north. The Hulmans were the driving force at the track back when I gave a damn about racing.
