When I worked for Illinois State Highways, one day after work I was in The Brothers Tavern for a couple of beers.
On the late afternoon TV news this human-interest story came on. This guy had found his long-lost brother. It was one of the designers from the gay florist I used to make deliveries for.
I stood up on the rungs of the bar stool, pointed at the TV and shouted, "THAT GUY'S A FAGGOT!"
Everyone was asking, "How do you know?"
I said, "I used to work with the guy. It was the same shop, but we had different jobs."
After the owner of the shop became a millionaire in the 90s, he closed the shop. He would do a lot of Jewish weddings. I wonder who is doing them now?
One night we went to the Ambassador West Hotel for a midnight pick up. When we got there the band was still playing and people were dancing. The guy that was with me started taking flowers from the tables. I told him, "You can't do that when they are still dancing." He said, "I'm going out for a beer." He never came back and I had to get all the equipment out by myself.
A couple years later I was in a gin mill for a few beers and who walks in? You guessed it, the guy that took off on me at that Jewish wedding. He had a cane, so I asked, "What happened to you?" He said, "MS". He might be dead by now for all I know. ;)
