National News See other National News Articles Title: FBI Agents Get Forced Into A Corner, Then Apologize To John Durham FBI Agents Get Forced Into A Corner, Then Apologize To John Durham According to Special Counsel John Durham, some FBI officials “apologized” to him for how the alleged 2016 Russia hoax probe “was conducted” at the agency. Durham stated to Congress at a hearing this week that both present and retired FBI officers had expressed regret to him for the way the bureau had handled its inquiry into then-President Donald Trump’s possible Russian involvement. The FBI agents Durham had worked with through the years, some of whom are retired and others who are still employed, “have come to me and expressed regret for the way that investigation was conducted,” Durham said. Durham was named as a special counsel in 2020 by Bill Barr, the attorney general at the time, to look into the FBI’s inquiry into a potential Russian connection in the Trump campaign. In May, Durham’s report affirmed what a lot of people had believed since the Russian hoax story started: that the FBI created a politically motivated assault against the president, using weak justifications to “swiftly” begin an investigation into him while ignoring information that Hillary Clinton’s campaign planned to continue the false narrative of Russian collusion in order to divert attention from her mishandling of a private server.
