What a strange day. An hour or so ago, I had a formation of four A-10 Warthogs flying right above my house.

Flood, dead GFs ghosts, strafing runs, etc.

122nd says farewell to thunderous A-10 fighter jet

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The 122nd celebrates “The Final ATTACK! – A Farewell to the A-10,” with members of the 122, their families, and distinguished visitors Saturday at 1.

The event aims to honor the legacy of the A-10, while also showing recognition to those who flew, maintained, and sustained the Thunderbolt II aircraft since 2010.

US Congressman Jim Banks was in attendance, along with Indiana State Senators Justin Busch and Tyler Johnson, several Indiana State Representatives, and Fort Wayne’s Mayor, Tom Henry. Banks has supported and worked for years to bring the F-16 back to Fort Wayne, opening opportunities for a bright future for the 122 Wing.

A display of A-10 aerial training is set to begin at 2, to show the A-10 Thunderbolt before the base converts to the F-16 Fighting Falcon.

This event is not open to the public, Wane 15 will have full coverage of the event.

A-10

I was on the property I used to own near Lebanon and an A-10 flew over. it was likely based at Ft. Leonard Wood which was not far away as the crow flies. ;)

I'm used to seeing A-10s on final to FWA, NNE to SSW. Today they were 90 degrees to that, four in formation, full mil power about 200 feet AGL. Loud as fuck.

I thought they moved the FW Airshow up to coincide that stupid Three Rivers Festival. Last year when I went to the airshow in the fall, parking was about a mile and a half away over some pretty rough ground. I don't know if I have that kind of hike in me anymore.

The Warthog and the C130 should always have a strong presence in our AF, two birds that can do the dirty and heavy lifting forever and ever.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Glenbrook mall is closed for the rest of Saturday after Fort Wayne Police say a man shot at another man inside the building.

The initial calls to 911 were made just before 3:30 p.m. Callers had heard three to four shots and were telling dispatchers that one person may have been shot.

Police said they did locate one victim who was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. That man is now stable.

Callers told police that the shooter had been seen running out of the Barnes & Noble entrance before officers arrived.

He later called 911 requesting to turn himself in and speak with detectives. As of now, the identified shooter has yet to come forward and make contact with police. A previous update by Fort Wayne Police stated that the shooter did turn himself in.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, this was not a random incident where a shooter came into the mall randomly firing. Police believe some sort of altercation between the two parties led to the shots being fired.

They say there’s currently no danger to the public and that the mall will remain closed for the remainder of Saturday. Glenbrook will reopen for regular business hours on Sunday.

WANE 15 spoke to a witness who was in the food court at the time of the incident.

They said they heard what they thought was a gunshot, but there was confusion if it was just a loud bang. They added that a panic then ensued and people started running out of the mall.

An officer helped that witness and her husband out of the mall at the nearest exit.
