Time and time again, radical left-wingers running America’s major cities focus their efforts on defending violent criminals instead of cleaning up the streets. But, Brandon Johnson is nowhere to be found after a child does the unthinkable to law enforcement. Crime has become a part of everyday life in the city of Chicago Violent crime is nothing new in the city of Chicago, however, in recent years violent crime has become more tolerated and widespread. Homicides occur on a daily basis, and city lawmakers simply cannot keep up. However, last Monday one shooting in particular made national headlines for its appalling and shocking nature. According to the Associated Press, at around noon, police officers responded to what seemed like an accidental gun discharge committed by a minor. However, when police arrived, they discovered that this was something far more serious. Upon arriving on the scene, officers discovered that a 10-year-old boy was armed and was refusing to cooperate with police. The child even went as far to walk outside, point the gun at his head and then fired a shot at police officers, but luckily nobody was injured. Police officers eventually fired a non-lethal chemical deterrent on the porch, which disarmed the child, allowing police to detain him. Chicago Police Deputy Chief Migdalia Bulnes spoke to the press at the scene, saying “It’s a little bit more delicate because he’s 10 years old, and he’s in distress. And we know that. He’s a child, so that’s what’s in our mind when we have discussions of what’s the next step.” The boy’s grandfather, Thurston Daniels, told the Chicago Sun-Times that the child snapped after his mother commanded him to clean the house. While in a fit of rage, the boy grabbed a gun out of his mother’s purse and went on a rampage. Chicago lawmakers have a lot of explaining to do Instead of taking shootings like this one seriously, lawmakers like Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson often refuse to admit that Chicago has a crime problem. Instead of cleaning up the streets of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, and others are quick to defend violent young people. Not only does this convey a message to these young people that what they are doing is acceptable, but it also sends a message to law-abiding citizens that Chicago supports lawlessness. Most people would agree that young people like the 10-year-old involved in this shooting need help, but the way that Brandon Johnson and others are going about this is completely wrong. Remember the Founders gave us the Second Amendment for a reason, and it wasn't to go hunting. Also, gun control is the hallmark of tyranny.
