Article View Counts are now in place. This displays the number of times a thread was viewed. An effort is made to exclude search spider views of various search engines like google, though there is no standard way I know of to identify those hits -- there appears to be no standard ID tag all spiders carry -- so some hits from search spiders might get counted. But I think it will filter those spider hits out somewhere between "pretty well" and "extremely well". Because no effort is made to record who read which thread, clicking your refreshing button will cause the count to increment, as will posting to a thread since you are redirected back to the thread after posting a comment. The counts are NOT retroactive, so old and pre-existing threads will not show their true number of reads. I hope this is helpful. I think it will be. (not being critical) I have pulled up posts that have more "replies" than "views", is that possible? Are you counting "individual" viewers that pull up the article? ie I called up the article 6 times so that counts as (1) view?

Yes. Since the view count is not retroactive, articles posted prior to the upgrade will show Comment counts exceeding View counts. I suppose I could make the viewcounts of all preexisting articles match the Comment count, since it's basically guaranteed to be at least that. That would count as 6 views. No record is made of what IP views the articles.
Oh I get it, only article posts after you implimented the improvement will show number of "views" equal to "replies" or greater. (most likely greater) I think I said that right. At least I think I said what I mean or at least what you mean.

You got it right.
I've done this, setting all View counts for all aritcles to (at least) the Comment count + 1. This is a more accurate figure and should eliminate any confusion on preexisting articles.

Yes, it's good positive feedback. Posting articles and not gettting responses can be discouraging.
