What is funny is alcohol is cheap in comparison to healthy food. Just like it is here in the US. Produce costs more than a box of cookies. Though that is becoming more and more expensive.

When we lived in Chicago back in the 60s, we went on vacation to see Mt. Rushmore.

The old man wanted a beer so we stopped at a place in Deadwood, SD. I was looking at the juke box when this white guy called an Indian a Nigger. It started a fight and they were throwing hand right above me.

When we lived in Chicago in the 70s, I went down in the basement and found all the bottles the old man had hidden and broke them all in the washtub.

Needless to say he was not a happy camper after that one.

I had a garden in the back yard and he came in a drunken stupor and picked a cantaloupe before it was ripe. I was so mad I took it from him and smashed it on the sidewalk.

These are old memories and am lucky to recall them because of the meningitis. ;)
