Title: Brutal Marijuana Studies Now Emerging – It Should Never Have Been Fully Legalized

For years, marijuana advocates claimed that if only America would loosen restrictions, we’d all see how beneficial the drug is. But now, more than 10 years after the first efforts to do just that, we are seeing that the critics were right. Liberal pot laws and increased usage are far from the panacea pot-lovers claimed.

Starting back in 2012, Colorado passed a law to allow private use of marijuana. Soon the state of Washington joined the Centennial State in loosening its pot laws. And many more came in the following years, especially when the states began to realize it could tax “legal” marijuana and bring millions into their state treasuries.

Now even the federal government is looking to loosen the reins and is preparing to take pot off its Schedule One prohibitions, a move said to be the first step in decriminalizing marijuana.

But now these states are finding that it is time to pay the piper, as a raft of ill-effects are spreading like wildfire all across the country. From mental illness to addiction and impaired driving, the effects on many are not as beneficial as advocates claimed.

Do This Before Paying Your Power Bill (It's Genius) There do seem to be a very few beneficial uses for pot for a small number of people. It does help in pain relief for the chronically afflicted, it can help with nausea from chemotherapies and it is sometimes effective for those with anxiety. But all those benefits are limited and are far outweighed by the deleterious effects seen when widespread use is factored in, according to a raft of new studies reported by the Daily Mail.

As The BRICS Countries Stockpile Gold And Americans Scramble to Protect Themselves, A Faith-Based Company Shows Them How

With a pool of more than 40 million pot users to look at, researchers are finding that recreational use of the drug is becoming an increasing problem everywhere it is being tried.

As the Mail noted, researchers from the Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark have found that despite claims by pot advocates, the drug is just as addictive as any other drug. And 41 percent of users have developed major problems with depression.

The research found that chronic marijuana use quadrupled risk of developing a bipolar disorder and added to a rise in psychotic breaks, including thoughts of, and deaths by, suicide, with pot linked to 30 percent of cases of schizophrenia.

The researchers added that people who already have a propensity for these mental disorders often find that pot makes them worse, not better.

That is nothing like the benign effects pot advocates claimed we’d be seeing.

1 Simple Trick To Cut Your Electrical Bill By 90% 1 Simple Trick To Cut Your Electrical Bill By 90% Urologist: Enlarged Prostate? Do This Immediately (Genius!) Pot advocates also claimed that one can’t really become addicted to the drug. This has also been revealed as false.

“New research from University of Washington and Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute estimates 21 percent of marijuana users had become addicted,” the Mail reported, adding that at least four million Americans have developed “marijuana use disorder” since pot became so much easier to get.

Another claim that many advocates have made is that pot will calm you and make sleep come easier. This is also not true, studies have found.

“A 2021 study in the journal BMJ reported adults who used cannabis 20 or more times in the previous month were more likely than non-users to get six or fewer hours of sleep per night,” the Mail reported. In addition, 39 percent of daily pot users developed clinical insomnia.

An even more alarming study says that pregnant women will put themselves at a 70 percent higher risk of birth defects if they regularly use pot during pregnancy, and they will be 2.3 times more susceptible to a stillbirth.

Also, “A 2022 study published in JAMA Pediatrics found prenatal cannabis exposure after five to six weeks of pregnancy is associated with attention, social and behavioral problems that persist into early adolescence,” the Mail reported.

Finally, the evidence seems irrefutable that heavy pot smoking is just as bad on your body as heavy tobacco smoking. Smoking anything — pot or tobacco — increases the risk of coronary artery disease and also puts users at an increased risk of lung disease.

A study from Canada found that “three-quarters of marijuana users had emphysema – a lung disease which leaves sufferers struggling to breathe — compared to two-thirds of tobacco users,” the Mail wrote.

While it might be a better idea to go to a prescription model, where only seriously ill people are able to gain access to pot, it seems clear that recreational and non-medicinal use has had detrimental effects on Americans.

40 million pot users? Is that from the USA? If so that would be 1 person in 8. That's suspect.

Studies routinely contradict each other depending on how they are done and who's doing them. Sure some people are worse off with legalized pot but the plant also has positive medicinal properties, such as with Parkinson's disease and epilepsy. And finally, even if it's true that there is a net societal negative to it in terms of health, the law enforcement negative should also be considered. And then there's the freedom issue. Just because something is bad for you, like not wearing seatbelts, it does not mean it should be illegal.

Do you think it's higher or lower? I'd guess 1 in 3 or 1 in 4.

Maybe I'm hanging out with the wrong people. The stuff makes me pukey just being around users.

Well now there's deus ex machina. We've only ever heard that toking makes people euphoric and more easily amused? I suspect it simply makes them more of whatever they are emotionally.

Everything has its price and the cost of this experiment is too high. Don't know how they'll ever get the genie back in the bottle but it's got to be done.

I think we can safely rule out all non-cigarette smokers from the pool, which I'd expect is a majority of the population. So yes I think 40 million is way high. No pun intended.

I'm hanging out with the wrong people.

We were hanging out in an alley with some people we knew in a nearby neighborhood. My old Blazer was parked there.

A squad car pulled up on us and we were stuck. The other people boogied since they were on the other side away from the cops.

A couple of chicks we had in the back of the truck were smoking weed. I told them, "Don't be smoking that shit in here."

This one cop was by the book and was looking thru the windows. He said. "What's the pink stuff in that jug?" It was washer fluid from Sears.

Then he got up to the open door and smelled the weed and said, "It sure smells funny in here."

I looked toward the back of the truck and muttered, "Stupid bitches." :-/

Most of the MJ smokers I know don't do cigs. Some are virulently anti-cig but smoke pot.

Never thought about it much.

They need to try CBD since it gives medicinal effects without the THC content.

But I guess they are not really into that and prefer the high.

BTW, one of those people with us in that alley in Chicago had brought a copy of High Times along. The cop was not very pleased to see it. LOL

Perhaps the negative effects are the result of weed being much stronger now than it was a couple of generations back.

High school in the late 1970's: The chronic potheads were easily identifiable as losers, low achievers. Blank or stupid look on their faces, slow response time, obtuse, and ataxic gate. From my limited experience observing young users, pot is definitely NOT GOOD for young people whose brains are still maturing. I suspect that pot wouldn't adversely affect adults nearly as much as it does adolescents.

Nobody should have to rot in prison for mere possession or use of pot. But selling or giving it to a minor should be prohibited by law.

a little booze makes someone cheery but too much has the opposite effect.

I recall working Security at a country night club named Julie's in far northwest suburban Chicago.

One night this guy had too much to drink and they refused to serve him. I asked, "Do you want me to call a cab for you?" He replied in the affirmative.

I went to the phone and made the call. When I got back he had stumbled into the stairway staff used to get from lower level to upper level.

Myself and the other security guy picked him up and start walking him toward the front door.

Then he said he needed to take a leak. We took him to Men's Room. He was having trouble and the other guy said, "Turn on the water." I did and it worked like a charm.

We took him to the front door and say him on a bench.

Then the boss came by and said, "What did this guy have, two beers?"

He gets up and wants to fight. I said, "Now John, you don't want to-do that."

And he said, "At least someone called me by my name." And he sat right back down on the bench.

I told that story to the local cop and he was laughing. LOL

No, as the billboards say buzzed driving is dangerous driving. Pot is a form of inebriation.

That's a medical fact about young people -- it's terrible for them. And pot Prohibition is indeed wrong. Only offenders (e.g. stoned drivers or those evil adults) should be punished.

One beer doesn't make a dangerous driver. Don't know enough about weed to know how much is dangerous.

In grandpa's time people sort of realized that smoking 3 packs of unfiltered Luckies a day was not good for health, but they did it anyway until massive education programs made them realize just how bad it was. Lot of people then gave up smoking even though they were addicted and it was difficult. Smoking didn't have to be made illegal, and you can still buy cigarettes.

If the posted article is correct, many tokers do not realize that marijuana is not as harmless as they had assumed. Like with cigarettes, education might reduce the amount of marijuana being consumed.

the amount of marijuana being consumed.

People I knew that smoked that crap frequently used a water bong. You surely do not want to get bong water spilled on you since it stinks to high heaven.

I was working a concert at the Vic Theater in Chicago. I found a 35 mm film container out front. I opened it and it had good weed in it. I didn't smoke that stuff, so I sold it to someone. I figure someone ditched it so they would not get caught with it. They search purses at the front door. ;)

Tobacco doesn't mess your mind and slow your reflexes. I'm sure many people are capable of safe buzzed driving and that figures by body weight could be drawn up, but it would be so simple to just decriminalize ownership and use -- even cultivation -- while throwing the book at those who harm others with the stuff (mala in se).

Nicotine is speed. Makes me jumpy, but keeps me alert. Caffeine has pretty much the same effect on me.

Neither caused me to go psycho or get arrested. Nor has cannabis.

Posting here because the same can't be said of liquor, I have some crazy bad weirdness on my record.

And I a have smoked a lot of weed. A lot :)

I basically think people that are idiots are going to act like idiots, which also includes the idea that we should guillotine creeps that try to sell weed to children.
