The Israeli military is poised to begin a ground invasion of Gaza, but the Israeli air force has been pounding Gaza civilian residential areas, churches, and hospitals in preparation for the land invasion. Yesterday Israel bombed an ancient church. Today it demolished 25 apartment buildings in Gaza City. Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev issued another warning about nuclear war.

Here is where Israel's claims about the war break down. Israel claims to be targeting only Hamas, but when an apartment building or hospital is warned to evacuate, Hamas can leave as readily as anyone else. Thus, the real war is on Palestinian infrastructure and the Palestinian people as a whole!

When I lived in Chicago, I knew this kid that was Lebanese-Palestinian. The family were refugees from Sharon's attack in south Lebanon. He was in trouble with the cops frequently.
