'You would need to pack 50,000 pounds of batteries!'

A truck driver in a viral video explained that poor infrastructure and inefficient, heavy electric batteries make it nearly impossible to switch semi-trucks and other large vehicles to fully electric.

Chace Barber, trucker and founder of Edison Motors, appeared in a widely circulated video during an event showcasing his company's hybrid truck model.

Barber has advocated for a push toward hybrid semi-trucks, as opposed to fully electric, which he said are a bad idea, the Independent Journal Review reported.

I think the maximum payload my buddy Rainman is allowed to haul on the roads is 40,000 pounds. I can't remember the max gross weight, 80,000 maybe.

I don't see much point in him driving batteries around without cargo 500 miles per day. Who'd pay for that? The government?

If I were 20 or 25 years younger and had my health, I would go to Alaska where they are running 16 axle trucks hauling ore from an open pit gold mine in the middle of the state north of Fairbanks. ;)
