QUEENS – Tammy Waters, a resident of the Queensbridge public housing development, enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal inside the nearby Jacob Riis Neighborhood Settlement on Saturday.

“Be thankful, because I’m very thankful,” Waters said.

The free meal is a gift that has become a precious commodity in the Long Island City community, where 6,000 NYCHA residents and 8,000 migrants are competing for free hot meals.

Free Thanksgiving Meals

This guy I work with said he would pick me up to go to the Baptist Church out here for a free meal. It turned out he was unavailable to go.

Lucky that a neighbor drove me out there since they had already sent out the orders to be delivered at 10:30.

He put his two dogs in the car also. One was a rescue pup from the dog pound. He said he is a good dog. ;)
