An Arizona car owner says he was shocked when he heard how much it would cost to replace a battery in his hybrid vehicle.

Lucas Turner told KPHO that he recently took his 2014 Infiniti hybrid to a dealership for a check engine light.

He said he knew something was wrong but wasn’t expecting it to be this bad.

“They told me that I need a new hybrid battery and it’s going to cost $18,000 for the battery and another $2,000 to have it installed,” Turner said.

The hybrid car owner said his vehicle has less than 70,000 miles on it and the entire car was purchased for $16,000.

Whew, 20K was about what I expected the stupid EV doofs were on the hook for.

A hamburger and some french fries is like $12 now. Fuck Biden.

Well, when a laptop battery dies, you can remove it and keep using it. It just always needs to be plugged in. Maybe a similar fix is possible with hybrids. Remove the batteries and wire it so it's always needs the engine running.

Rewiring should be a hellova lot cheaper than $20k.

Except when they go up in flames. I've seen it happen, at the office in Tulsa. We were out in the courtyard thing, next to a little pond. Thank God it didn't explode when it hit the water, but was otherwise a total loss.

You're saying a laptop that had the battery removed burst into flames? Normally the fire hazard is the batteries, not the electronics.

Nothing unusual there. If you buy a hand tool, replacing the battery is as expensive as buying a new tool.

The entire laptop burst into flames, the battery was in it and was no doubt the cause.
