I recall my Mom, who suffered from kidney disease, had a spell at home. I carried her out to the car and drove her up to Evanston Hospital where she would go for dialysis.
She wouldn't take care of herself and watch her blood pressure and that got her kidneys. She died from complications from kidney disease. :-/
