Acetone is fingernail polish remover.

You don't want to put it in your car; it'll eat the hell out of everything it touches. You don't want the stuff to even TOUCH you.

I've seen these articles before, and all of them are fraudulent.

So will gasoline, though. Try pouring some gasoline in a styrofoam cup, and come back in an hour or so: the cup will be dissolved. Feul system and engine parts are made of solvent resistant materials.

Not recommending for or against using acetone in your gas, I know nothing about it. Just saying it probably wouldn't hurt the car.

What about Xylene or MEK, I wonder? My first thought when I read the article was that it cleans your injectors and plugs. The linked page says it works by breaking down the viscosity of the gasoline, making it atomize better so it burns more completely. I wonder if it would help an old-style carburated engine(my van). Maybe I could get up to 12 mpg, instead of the usual 9.

Go pour some acetone in a styrofoam cup.

It won't take an hour.....It won't even take 10 seconds.

I poured some gas in a styrofoam cup many years ago.

I watched it eat through the bottom in seconds.
