If the US pisses off Putin with attacks against Russia, he will send the Houthis some real missiles.
I am sure Iran has a good number of mines the USSR gave them they could supply the Houthis with. Plant the field as to force vessels toward their coast with restricted passage. Those who try to sail out of missile range would go on to prove the adage "Every ship is a mine sweeper, once!".
