Roku customers are threatening to stop using, or to even dispose of, their low-priced TVs and streaming gadgets after the company appears to be locking devices for people who don't conform to the recently updated terms of service.

This month, users on Roku's support forums reported suddenly seeing a message when turning on their Roku TV or streaming device reading: "We've made an important update: We’ve updated our Dispute Resolution Terms. Select ‘Agree’ to agree to these updated Terms and to continue enjoying our products and services. Press * to view these updated Terms." A large button reading "Agree" follows. The pop-up doesn't offer a way to disagree, and users are unable to use their device unless they hit agree.

Over 15,000 hacked Roku accounts sold for 50 each to buy hardware

Roku has disclosed a data breach impacting over 15,000 customers after hacked accounts were used to make fraudulent purchases of hardware and streaming subscriptions.

However, BleepingComputer has learned there is more to this attack, with threat actors selling the stolen accounts for as little as $0.50 per account, allowing purchasers to use stored credit cards to make illegal purchases.

Same thing happened on my cell phone 1-2 weeks ago. Until you agree you cannot continue using it.

My TeeVee is a Roku, but I never connected it to the internet because I never look at anything but the local over-the-air weather channel. The channel hasn't been changed for probably over three years ago when Sling Blade was here with the Squirt and she turned it to the PBS Kids channel or something. It took me awhile to figure out how to change it back.

TRUE TERROR will arrive at these people’s door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy…
but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the Men who just wanted to be left alone.”

I only use mine to play DVDs or video down loads on thumb drive (USB 2.0 port) by the HDMI port on back of set MP4 format only. It has a bunch of streaming feeds available but I refuse to connect it to the LAN. I can watch my TV but my TV cannot watch me.

my cell phone

My FB page was hacked and my cell phone is screwed up because of the hacker. They are also an identity thief and tried to purchase from J.C. PENNY catalog in Monroe, WI for delivery to Lubbock, TX.

The hacker also steals gift cards meant for friends.

I made a report to IC3 and also called J.C. PENNY Customer Service. They put a fraud alert on my credit reports.

Let's hope the FBI gets after that woman. ;)
