Viral Video Of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ Like You’ve Never Heard Before

Hear ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ in a whole new way with this viral video performance. In 1814, Francis Scott Key penned the iconic song after the events of The War Of 1812. British forces bombed Fort McHenry but the U.S. still proved victorious during the battle.

The next morning, Francis Scott Key spotted the American flag flying over the fort and he was hit with love and inspiration. What followed are the special words that we know and love today.

“O! say can you see by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?”

Often referred to as ‘The National Anthem,’ ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ is a song full of history and pride for the United States. In this video, you’ll hear the story behind the lyrics while the iconic melody plays underneath.

“And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?”
