Keeping up with credit card debt is getting more difficult.

Americans now owe $1.12 trillion on their credit cards, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York reported Tuesday.

The average balance per consumer stands at $6,218, up 8.5% year over year, according to a separate quarterly credit industry insights report from TransUnion.

“Consumers continue to use credit, and in particular credit cards, as they navigate the world we face right now,” said Charlie Wise, TransUnion’s senior vice president of global research and consulting.

credit card debt

When I lived in NW suburban Chicago, I was working Security for this guy that had a bar business not far from where I lived.

One night I saw this guy reach across the bar and grab a beer from the ice. I walked over there and took his beer and the beer from his buddy and set them on the bar.

The guy on the bar stool that took the beer, I grabbed him by his clothes and picked him up and moved him 5 or 6 feet before his feet hit the ground.

Then I hollered over toward the door, "Check his (the other guy's) jacket!" He had a beer stuck in the sleeve of his jacket.

I wonder how long they were doing that before they got caught?

Anyway, the guy that owned the bar missed some kind of balloon payment and the business went back to the original owner.

It could be that he missed that payment because he was gambling online and maxxed out three credit cards doing that.

His regular job was at a bank so I suppose he could get the cards. ;)
