Researchers from France published a study in the journal Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety revealing that three out of five sperm samples collected from a French infertility clinic showed high levels of glyphosate, the world's most commonly used weedkiller. "The new research also found evidence of impacts on DNA and a correlation between glyphosate levels and oxidative stress on seminal plasma, suggesting significant impacts on fertility and reproductive health," reported The Guardian (United Kingdom) about the paper.

I don't think Glyphosate in and of itself is a big problem. I think when Monsanto started genetically engineered crops to be "Roundup resistant" is when it became a problem.

Glyphosate, as best as I understand it, is an inorganic salt. Normally it shouldn't pose much of a hazard unless you ingest it through "Roundup Ready" crops or drink it.

I use glyphosate for weed control on my fence line. I don't use a fine aerosol and I keep it away from my few crops (a tomato plant and a jalapeno).

I can see problems in a farming situation, especially "Roundup Resistant" crops, not in me 'peeing on weeds.'

Lay into me, Horse. Let's talk about clot-shots.

This is just ONE of the resulting problems...farmers forced to spend 15K for a load of seeds.

Open pollinated corn is far superior to GMO corn is every way.

If the farmer plants op corn he has no overhead regarding seed costs, and he is in control of the seed.

It's all about control of money and the food supply.

Am I OK dribbling glyphosate with my two gallon sprayer on my 500 foot fenceline, or am I destroying the earth?

I use roundup to kill thistle in the pastures.

Wicked stuff, thistle. Tap root goes down to hell.

However, I don't want it in my food or the food my animals eat.

As you can see from the vids above, herbicides are an enormous expense that are completely unnecessary.

Farmers are dumb...I know because I am one.

To be clear, I isolate the thistle plant with a tube and spray into the tube to prevent overspray.

Usually takes several years to finally kill the plant.

I also drill into poplar trees, and inject roundup directly into the trunk. Kills. Them. Dead.

You're managing it the same way I do. I don't aerosolize it and it goes where it needs to go.

Have you seen the Advancing Eco Ag channel on Youtube?

I have learned how to kill white flies.

White flies and aphids eliminated with Mg, Sulfur, Mo and B foliar sprays. Add some molasses to kill even more of those chewing insects.

They recommend seed soaking in in Mn, Co, Cu and Zinc (Boron too) Soak for 24 hours

Their most famous video was Plant Health Pyramid.

They use Sap analysis and are able to increase photosynthesis by 300%.

Advancing Eco Ag channel

Excellent channel. Thanks. The first vid I listened to was: Building a Truly Regenerative Kitchen with Mollie Engelhart. Her conversion from veganism was profoundly honest...having to deal with death on a farm...honoring an animal's life.

White flies and aphids

I don't have a greenhouse...yet. This year, if we don't collapse.

climate battery greenhouses

This tech works just as well in designing a house. The first one I saw was in upstate NY. The homeowner could be away for several years, and the house would not freeze up. When I built my house in 2009, I desperately wanted to incorporate a battery, but my fam and I were living in tents on the property, and I needed to get a roof over their heads.

I want to move to a rural area and to build climate battery greenhouses.

I understand. I was hoping you had achieved this by now...at least in part. The area you talk about (Middle Tennessee?) is one of my favorite places...at least as I remember it from the 1970's.

I expect food prices to hit the roof.

Already there for many people on fixed incomes i.e. social security. I live out of my freezer, root cellar, and dairy.

Middle Tennessee

When I ran Hot Shot out of Chicago area, I picked up this guy at a truck stop in Tennessee. He got burned out of his house and only had the clothes on his back.

I stopped at a BBQ and bought him a meal and extra cornbread. He had family in south suburban Chicago. I dropped him off at the Oasis on the Illinois Tollway on far south side.

About a month later he sent me $10 in the mail. He wrote, "I didn't forget what you did for me."

He was a nice guy.

This happened in the late 90s. ;)
