Dr. Kimmy hated my Clown Car (2010 Daimler/Mercedes Smart Car) because it's so "unsafe."
Poster Comment:
I had a guy stop me in an auto parts store and ask me if the Clown Car was mine. I showed it to him and he asked me if it had a titanium frame. He must've been thinking of the trade name for the space frame (I didn't know that).
I had my sister up near Chicago buy it and her and one of her contractors delivered it to Ft. Wayne on a lawnmower trailer. I wish I would've taken a picture of that, it was the funniest thing I've ever seen.
It was low miles (89,000), needed work. Between me and my buddy Chip, my mechanic (Chip's Auto Repair, New Haven and Mechanix Unlimited, dwtn FTW), the total cost came to $10,000, 99% mechanically sound.
I wanted a two-door. It's a riot to drive, fast, nimble and the gals love it. Except Dr. Kimmy MD. I'm posting this for her. She is warming up to it, but we don't drive together very often.
(Edit) You'll have fun going through my phone this weekend.
The most terrifying force of death comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. TRUE TERROR will arrive at these peoples door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the Men who just wanted to be left alone.
Is it just me, or is that an exorbitant amount of parts and labor?
Two rear axle assys, inc. inner and outer CVJs, $800ea (ABS tone rings were rusted off), A/C condenser, $1,000 (reqd. removing the entire front clip), 4 tires, TPMS sensors, balancing, etc. $1,000, general check out, tune up, oil change (cost ?), clutch actuator ($100 new surplus, factory cost $800), glass lift struts, two new keys ($20 eBay, programming $180), new radio and speakers $150 (aftermarket), misc. doodads. Labor not included.
I did OK. It's a Mercedes (Daimler), parts are expensive.
What did Chip do...a frame-off restoration?
No, but, he should have enough to open shop #3 soon though.

That's a cool picture. Very reminiscent of Edward Hopper's Nighthawks.
(Edit) I made it my 4um homepage.
