The event was organized by the Hispanic 100, and some 325-350 participated, mostly entrepreneurs, elected officials, business and civic leaders of the Hispanic community. Of course, the main issue was the Senate bill. McCain spoke at length about the "strength and vitality" the US has gained from its "immigrant heritage", their contribution to the economy, and the tragic loss of lives crossing the desert.
