Before bush the younger our deployments were six or so months. On a boat 264 feet long 39 feet at the beam 75 of us were, nary an inch to swing a dead cat. Three or four hours of rack time was about the best in a 24 hour period.

Dammit, Holdings. He was just about to spill everything. Now I have nothing to report to my yellow friends.
My battle station was gun boss all mounts, weren't but two M2 Brownings and a couple hand me down M60s, I'd run out of barrels before I ran out of ammo. Hell we still had M14s, didn't get M9s until '97.
My father was a Gunner's Mate 1/C...July 7,1942 - October 10, 1945 This was his boat. His gun was one of the mid-ship turrets...can't remember which one. Went to several reunions with him...enjoyed every minute of it. I love those Fletcher class destroyers.
My Mom was in love with a Seabee, but he got killed in the south Pacific. Then she met my Dad at a dance hall. She always told my two sisters, "Never marry someone you meet in a dance hall." :-/
Kimmy met me in a roller rink in the late 70s, which I suppose was the equivalent of a dance hall. She ain't gonna let me get away again. I make her keep the 3 carat solitaire in my wall safe. If she dies from the clot-shots, I'll be damned if her soi boi kids or her faggot ex gets it. If I predecease her, I won't care, I'll be dead. Doc has specific instructions what to do if she finds me dead. Hanging around isn't one of them.
But did they serve alcohol at the roller rink? That does make it a different ball game. ;)
I didn't need booze to get chickee-poos chasing me in the old days. It helps a little now, but Kimmy drinks to assuage her conscience, not because I'm THAT ugly and banged up. Having lost my teeth in the accident ten years ago hasn't been all bad, especially for the gals. I keep my nails trimmed pretty good too, if you know what I mean!

I told the girls here at the plumber's office that I knew a guy that would deliver a quarter ounce of blow to the Rolling Stones dressing room before every show. I'll bet that was in the old days back in the 70s. He didn't mention any dates to me. ;)
