Not necessarily a case of the tire being defective. Could have been a faulty brake, rim, or other related component.

True, it could have been flat. Or something on the runway. That's what killed that Concord jet so long ago. But Boeing has indeed had obviously quality problems lately.

There were a number of people killed changing tires because the people who were tasked with deflating the tire didn't so the rims forcibly separate when the nuts and bolts are removed.
