The Cradle @TheCradleMedia

Just a handful of the lies told by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his speech at US Congress:

○ Israel has taken more precautions to avoid harming civilians than any military in history, beyond what international law requires.

○ Hamas burnt babies on 7 October.

○ Hamas killed 1,200 Israelis on 7 October.

○ Iran is funding anti-Israel protests in the USA.

○ Anti-Israel protests call for the genocide of Jews.

○ Israel does not deliberately target civilians.

○ Practically no civilians were killed in Rafah.

○ Hamas is stealing all the humanitarian aid that enters Gaza.

○ Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel.

Israel and Judah were bever united. Israel was ended by the Assyrian captivity. There 1,600 people in Jerusalem at the time of David. There never was a Temple of Solomon.

You are right.

The whole corpus of OT narratives are unhistorical, anachronistic and fictive.

These many myths support politics that are again and again and again murderous in outcome.

The ancient Israelites went into battle with the Ark of the Covenant at their head, and they never lost. ;)

The Old Testament was composed from many older texts in the third century BC for the political convenience of those with a hand over the scribes.

I do not believe that such events as they are there recounted ever happened in the way described - although it us likely that there is a cloaked history behind them.

It's OK by these lights to slay not only your male battlefield opponents but also to rub out their womenfolk, children and livestock.

Such murder is objectional to me, and repugnant to most of those people that I know. A God that inspires such goings on is certainly not the God that I was bidden to believe in when I was a young man.

Would it make a difference in your understanding if you knew that the "Jews" of today are the descendants of those whom God told Moses to utterly destroy?

“When the LORD your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and stronger than you, 2and when the LORD your God delivers them before you and you defeat them, then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them and show no favor to them.

Those nations were the descendants of Cain (the murderer) and Esau (the jealous brother of Jacob). And now THEIR descendants are pretending to be Isreal. Think Rothschild/Bauer...meaning Edomite/Cainite. Their name alone tells you who they are descendants of.

That is why God told the leaders of Israel to kill them all...but they disobeyed and spared some of the men women and children.

Not a day goes by that I wish (true) Israel had killed every last one of those ancestors of todays "Jews".

I'm sorry, but not really.

All of the tales in the Pentateuch are counterintuitive and impossible to square with what we know about the world. Like, 600,000 guys and their families and their animals got up one day and left Egypt to tromp around lost in a hundred square miles of wasteland for 30 years before finding the land of milk and honey.

I've read all of that stuff. I've also read much of the Koran which is even worse. The chief deity of that book is even harder to compass than the OT guy. Allah has two right hands, and his throne is larger than the earth. The earth has a muddy swamp at its western edge where the sun sinks every evening. Etc., etc.

I can see why the Gnostics and the Marcionites tried their best to cut themselves loose from this Old Testament baggage and the Yahweh character at its center. Someone, somewhere (perhaps some Romans in Rome) decided that excising the OT was not going to be part of the package, and all of the Old Stuff had to stand.

It certainly is "impossible to square" 600,000 men plus families moving around in the desert.

Exodus has been around for what, 3000 years? People have not just ignored these stories, but some fairly smart people have studied them from every conceivable angle.

From scribal error to misinterpretation of the word "eleph", the scholars keep digging.

But the number issue pales in comparison to the problem of simply having enough food for even 60,000 let alone 600,000.

That's when I have to go 'supernatural' in explaining the exodus. Feeding the multitude for 30 years is easy for a God who can speak the universe into existence, or conceive a virgin for the incarnation.
