The CEO and founder of the encrypted social media app, Telegram, Pavel Durov, was arrested on August 24 at Le Bourget airport near Paris as he was departing his private jet.

Durov's arrest has triggered a heated debate with most influencers seeing it as an onslaught on free speech. A hashtag #FreeDurov popped up on X.

Former US presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. tweeted: "France just arrested Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of the encrypted and uncensored Telegram platform. The need to protect free speech has never been more urgent."

Naomi Seibt, a German conservative political activist, dubbed anti-Greta by the Washington Post, alleged on X:

"Why do you think they just arrested the owner of Telegram, Pavel Durov? This is a test run. They are setting a precedent. Their ultimate target is Elon Musk."

You should see Jim's phone. Restricted, Blocked, Unknown, raw numbers from the Netherlands and places I didn't learn about in high school.

He knows a lot of people. He doesn't talk much about it unless I press him which is usually a bad idea. I know Jim's past. I was there when he left 45 years ago. I can't lose him again.

I think Elon needs to stay out of everywhere, at least the West. He does have SpaceX.

I love Miami Vice. Michael Mann knew his guns (Thief, Heat, etc.). Except maybe that Bren 10 in the early MV episodes.

That torch that James Caan is using for the 'big score' is an oxygen lance. This movie was very technically accurate.

The score was from Tangerine Dream. Great sound. I had that on vinyl.

I just finished watching Thief. I can hardly believe they blew up the Green Mill. That place was on Broadway north of Lawrence. It must have been rebuilt for a pretty penny since it was there in the early 80s when we worked concerts at the Aragon. ;)
