What would Kimmy do without me?
@ 26:46 - Note how the windshield wiper is operated. LOL!
I just did first repair on Corolla HB, the clear cover in one of the license plates lamps had come off and left the halogen bulb exposed. I was worried that it would explode if driven with lights on during rain with a lot of wind. Changed broken one first and made sure it worked before proceeding with #2. The new LEDs are quite a bit brighter.
When we worked for Illinois State Highways, two of us were on Night Patrol for drifting. It was so heavy we were working together. It was Christmas Eve.
We got to Touhy and McCormick. There was a Bell & Howell plant with chain link fence around it. The drift was across both southbound lanes. It was so cold the hydraulics were frozen and we couldn't reverse the plows. We had to keep making U-turns to push it across the road. Before we could make the last pass, this guy came flying northbound, "ploffo" right into the pile of snow.
We called in for police to come out. By the time the cop got there, we had the whole road cleaned off but the pile of snow this guy was sitting in. The cop gets out of his car and says, 'What's going on here? How did this guy get here?"
Then the guy driving the car said, "You got me stuck in here. You get me out." OK, so who was driving the car?
Then the cop said, "There is no way to get a tow truck, not on Christmas Eve.."
The guy said he had a chain in his trunk. I told him, "We are not supposed to pull anyone out. But if you hook it up, I will pull you out. Get in your car and put it in neutral."
I pulled him out but he had the car in reverse. I put the truck in neutral, pulled on the parking brake, opened the door and stepped out on the fuel tank. He backed into the plow and popped out his tail light.
Then he told the cop he wanted to make a report. The cop told him. "Get out of here before I run you in." What do you think? That guy was at a Christmas party and was lit.
He tried to make a claim for the damages. HQ called me at the yard since I was first man. I said, "Did you get a truck number?"
They did not. I said "No? Then we don't know anything about it."
