The latest jobs report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reveals a troubling trend for native-born Americans. In August, 1.3 million native-born workers lost their jobs, while 635,000 foreign-born workers were hired. Critics argue that the Biden-Harris administrations policies are directly responsible for this shift, with foreign nationals benefiting at the expense of U.S. citizens.
Former President Donald Trump criticized the report, stating that foreign-born workers many of whom entered the country illegally are taking jobs that should go to American citizens. These numbers are shocking, Trump said. The Biden-Harris administrations open-border policies are hurting the American workforce.
Research from the Heritage Foundation supports Trumps claims. EJ Antoni, a researcher with the foundation, noted that foreign-born workers have consistently seen job gains while native-born Americans continue to lose employment. This is part of a longer trend where American workers are going backward, Antoni said.
The report also highlighted a significant shift from full-time to part- time work. In August, 438,000 full-time positions were eliminated, while 527,000 part-time jobs were created. Part-time work often lacks benefits like health insurance and retirement savings, leaving many American families in a precarious financial situation.
