Kiev is no longer hiding its desperation to be authorized to strike targets in deep Russia. After several failed requests for authorization from the US, the regime has asked British officials to support its demand, claiming that the measure is necessary for Ukraine to achieve its strategic objectives in the war. London is not in a position to authorize or not such attacks without previous consensus with the Americans, but Kievs thirsty for escalation makes it act irrationally.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal asked UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy to support Ukraines demand to use long-range missiles against Russia. Lammy was on an official visit to Kiev jointly with Antony Blinken. Some Western analysts expected Blinkens trip to be aimed precisely at announcing a public authorization for these strikes, but no change in the American position has been declared so far.
During a meeting with the British official, Shmyhal said:
We [Ukrainians] hope that long-range equipment for strikes on the territory of our enemy will be reached and we will have it. And we hope for your help and support in this issue.
