Ways to protect yourself from West Nile, EEE virus

New York state reported its first case of eastern equine encephalitis in nearly a decade on Friday.

The rare mosquito-borne virus was detected in Ulster County, the New York State Department of Health said. The individual is hospitalized, it said.

The Ulster County Department of Health is currently investigating the case, which marks the first case of EEE confirmed in New York state since 2015, health officials said.

"Eastern equine encephalitis is a serious and fatal mosquito-borne disease with no vaccine," New York State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald said in a statement. "Even though temperatures are getting cooler, mosquito-borne illnesses are still a risk and New Yorkers must be cautious."

Can't even make scabies jokes on Yahoo anymore, what has become of our society?

“I am not one of those weak-spirited, sappy Americans who want to be liked by all the people around them. I don’t care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do. The important question is whether they are in a position to do anything about it. My affections, being concentrated over a few people, are not spread all over Hell in a vile attempt to placate sulky, worthless shits.” - William S Burroughs

I have an easter egger hen named Patti Smith and another named Siouxsie Sioux, two black Maran cross hens; Tina Turner and Grace Jones who is the mother of Lil' Kim. I'm not sure which is the mother to Aretha have to wait and see if she lays olive or brown colored eggs with the white spots behind her ears I'm leaning olive. Lil' Kim is an olive egger.

My oldest son is 39 so when I name the hens I give him a music history lesson. I tried to get the hens to listen to some of The Who, they didn't seem too keen. I asked them what music they liked; they said Bach Bach Bach.

I get how The Who could be quite unsettling to poultry.

We worked The Grateful Dead several times in the Chicago area.

One show at Soldier Field, I was in charge of the crew behind the stage. Jerry's wife would sit on a chair behind the stage. On occasion he would slip thru a part in the curtains to visit with her.

We had a guy on the crew who sat behind the stage. He nailed Jerry for an autograph. Band Security saw this and told me about it. I told him, "I'll take care of it."

I told our guy, "You are not here to get autographs. You are here to keep people out that do not belong back here." ;)
