When Japan was nuked to bring about their surrender, all the weapons in storage on Iwo Jima, 4 and 5 pallets high, were put on two ships. One went to Pyongyang, and the other to Haiphong. They were sending the guns to start the next two wars. M-1 carbines were found in the V.C. tunnels.
The French were defeated at Dien Bien Phu by American weapons. When the U.S turned their back on Ho Chi Mihn, he went to the Soviets for weapons. ;)
