Irans Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps chief Major General Hossein Salami warned on October 17 of further retaliation against Israel if it attacked Iranian targets.
If you make a mistake and attack our targets, whether in the region or in Iran, we will strike you again painfully, Salami said at the funeral of a Guards general killed in an Israeli strike alongside Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon last month.
Iran launched some 200 ballistic missiles at Israel on October 1, hitting key security and military targets in the center and south of the country.
The attack was in response to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the Hamas Movement, in Tehran in July, and the assassinations of Nasrallah and Iranian General Abbas Nilforoushan in Beirut in September.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said after the large-scale attack that Tehran had made a big mistake and will pay for it.

They plan to do considerable damage to Israel, enough so they cannot continue to kill civilians in Gaza and Lebanon.
