by The Market Ear Trump knew Trump's comment about refugees and crime in Sweden back in the spring of 2017 turned out to be spot on. At the time, Mainstream media did their best to ridicule the comment with BBC and NYT leading the charge. Even Swedish media and politicians joined in on the criticism of Trump (even though they already in 2017 should have been in a better position than Trump to see what was going on). Let's look at a few charts on how right Trump turned out to be. And yes, this matters for the US in general and for this upcoming election in particular. Border security is important. Speaking the truth about about what is going on equally so. What he actually said "You look at what’s happening last night in Sweden — Sweden — who would believe this? Sweden, they took in large numbers, they are having problems like they never thought possible." (February 2017) Gun crime death Sweden’s gun crime death rate is now the second highest in Europe. Chart shows gun deaths per 100,000 citizens, by country in 2021. Numbers keep on going up in Sweden. Annual gun deaths A tripling in less than 10 years. A double since Trump spoke up. Gotham Stockholm’s gun-murder rate was roughly 30 times higher per capita than London’s in 2022. (WSJ) European leader in rape The chart shows rate of reported sexual violence in Europe in 2022, by country (per 100,000 inhabitants). Yes, WOKE people are very keen to note that reporting varies from country to country, and the willingness of victims to come forward can vary across regions and cultures, therefore a comparison between the countries should be taken with caution. This is partly true, but imagine deciding that "the rape numbers are not a problem" hill is the one that you want to die on....Trump for sure does not fall into that trap. More statistics This time 2021 numbers from World Population Review. And another.. . Sweden now has one of the highest number of rapes in the world, after some African countries. If you look at the number of rapes, the increase is horrendous. In 1975, there were only 421 rapes reported to the police – in 2014, it was 6,620. That is an increase of 1,472%. What's the driver? "In an analysis of sexual offenders, Jonasson (2017) found that the overrepresentation was larger for more severe forms of rape. According to his analysis of 2012–2017 data, as many as 84% of aggravated rapes and 90% of group rapes were perpetrated by men of non-European background." (Inquisitive Bird) "Shithole countries" 25% of rapes in Sweden are done by men from five countries (Afghanistan, Iraq, Eritrea, Somalia, Syria). And this is in 2017 - the numbers are most likely way higher today. In this specific aspect we also have to give Trump credit for his other comment about "shithole countries". Sweden winning them all Not only rapes - murder and burglaries too... Just kids In 2012, 15- to 20-year-olds made up 16.9% of all suspects for such crimes; by 2022 that figure stood at 29.7%. The same trend is even starker when it comes to gun crime: less than a quarter (23.6%) of suspects in gun-related murder and manslaughter offences were aged between 15 and 20 a decade ago; in 2022 it was closer to half (45.1%), according to data from the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention. MSM - 7 years later "Sweden has long prided itself on one of the world's most generous social safety nets, with a state that looks after vulnerable people at all stages of life. But these days it also has another distinction: by far the highest per capita rate of gun violence in the EU. Last year 55 people were shot dead in 363 separate shootings in a country of just 10 million people. By comparison, there were just six fatal shootings in the three other Nordic countries - Norway, Finland and Denmark - combined." (Reuters, June 2024) Somebody has to pay for it SEK has lost around 25% vs the Euro since 2017
