US President-elect Donald Trump is seeking to overhaul energy and environmental policies, aiming to dismantle the so-called woke agenda and eliminate programs that impede the countrys economic growth, The New York Times has reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Trumps energy and environment transition team has already prepared a slate of executive orders and presidential proclamations on climate and energy, according to the article published on Friday. The measures reportedly include the US abandoning the Paris Agreement an international treaty on climate change adopted in 2015.
Reshaping the boundaries of the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in southern Utah to open up land for drilling and mining is also on the agenda. The protected area was expanded by US President Joe Biden in 2021.
