The Washington Post took a virtual beating on Friday after publishing an article declaring that the two Bronze Star medals awarded to Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Pentagon, were less than because they were awarded for “Meritorious Service” rather than for “Valor.”

On the TV show 12 O'clock High about the B-17s that flew out of England, a waist gunner shot down three Bf-109's in 15 minutes. Col. Gallegher, who was the commander of that group, said he would put that gunner in for a Silver Star.

So what then is a bronze star other than a somewhat more minor award for valor? ;)
