Avoiding foods with seed oils and sweeteners is increasingly difficult. Many processed foods now include sunflower, palm, canola, and corn oils, along with sweeteners like stevia, saccharin, and aspartame. For those trying to avoid these additives, the only safe options often seem to be meat and vegetables. Doctors are raising alarms about the health risks associated with these ingredients. A government-funded study suggests that certain cooking oils may contribute to the rise in colon cancer cases among young Americans. High consumption of seed oilssunflower, canola, corn, and grapeseedhas been linked to inflammation in the body. The study, which analyzed the tumors of over 80 colon cancer patients, found these oils may also increase the risk of one of the fastest-growing types of cancer.
