Since the Dept of Education and the rise of the NEA, students have lost the ability to do advanced reading and arithmetic. In 2000 I was managing a warehouse in Silicon Valley, It was after a merger and our company grew really fast. Before we could set up electronic inventory control, we used the alphabet to find stock. Problem was California high school graduates who were not college bound did not comprehend an alphabet. Illegal aliens with a 6th to 8th grade education were far superior at reading English than were our graduates with 12 years of NEA classroom instruction.
