House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has announced a probe into over 400 suspicious activity reports (SARs) linked to ActBlue, a prominent Democratic fundraising platform. Comers investigation, bolstered by findings from whistleblowers, aims to expose possible foreign interference and financial misconduct.
Comer revealed that the Treasury Department identified hundreds of SARs involving ActBlue, sparking concerns about illicit transactions. These alerts are typically generated by banks when they detect activities that may violate financial laws. ActBlue has raised over $2 billion for Democratic candidates and liberal causes, but GOP investigators suspect some of these funds may have foreign origins.
According to Comer, suspicious donations routed through ActBlue might involve straw donors and foreign gift cards, raising questions about compliance with campaign finance laws. Its almost impossible to believe every Democrat donor is making $5 or $10 contributions daily, Comer said, suggesting fraud could be at play.
