Good job keeping the franchise running while I was sacked out last night, Doc. Sorry about that.

What happened to Gasometers ?

I always wondered what those things were.

(Edit) Ah, OK, they were manufacturing 'Town gas' which is basically just carbon monoxide, which is flammable and very toxic. Natural gas is methane, which is used today. The gasometers must've been used to keep a constant pressure in the system similar to how a water tower works.

(Edit 2) A working gasometer is shown at 1:44:31 in the movie "The Best Years of Our Lives" (1946) in the Los Angles area.

In the bad old days where 'town gas' (CO) was in use, sticking your head in the oven and turning on the gas without lighting the burner, was a common way to commit suicide.

FWIW, natural gas (methane), has a very narrow range of flammability, i.e., the ratio between the gas/air mixture has to be just right to burn.

(Edit 3) A combustion range chart for methane typically shows a flammable range between 5% and 15% methane concentration in air; meaning that methane will only ignite and burn within this concentration range, with concentrations below 5% being too lean and above 15% being too rich to combust effectively.

Key points about methane combustion range:

Lower Explosive Limit (LEL):
Around 5% methane concentration, representing the minimum concentration needed for ignition.

Upper Explosive Limit (UEL):
Around 15% methane concentration, representing the maximum concentration for combustion to occur.

I think I've sufficiently beaten this subject to death. I thought it was interesting.

It wasn't hard your YouTube suggestions page did all the work. I had ulterior motives. I was trying to lure Dax out of the shadows so he could serenade me with his vast musical knowledge. 😍

I wanted to let you sleep. If there was drinking going on in your house and you weren't partaking I knew you weren't feeling well. 😋

I think I've sufficiently beaten this subject to death.

What was your first clue? 🤔

I had a buddy, Darrel, that was a Pinto fanatic. He was a clown, but a damn good wrench. Last I heard, he picked up cancer somewhere and is gone. That was probably 15+ years ago.

#11. To: Dr. Kimmy, 4um (#9)

Kimmy wanted lasagna for dinner tonight so I prepared some this morning. It's ready to go in the oven in a couple hours. I made it for us a week or two ago by guessing. It turned out really good except I didn't grease the pan. It took three days of soaking to clean up that little misadventure in the pan.

It's a good thing she didn't want tacos, we forgot to buy hamburger (and other stuff) yesterday. We remembered the taco sauce. There's something about going to the grocery that shuts down my brain. It's probably PTSD from the prices now. I'm lucky they have the flowers right inside the door or I'd forget those too.

It was a weird day, I guess I was preoccupied with thinking about who I could call if the Clown Car went completely dead on the way home to get Doc and the frozen food home. I think one of the computers had a brain fart and needed to reset (Or the car was deliberately picking on Kimmy).

Kimmy's wanting to post something on ZH using my account on a covid thread. That should be interesting...

We got carried away on ZH and 4um, I didn't get the lasagna in the oven at 1700 like I should have.

Oh well, late dinner.

I had fun posting solo with you guys last night. It also gave me time to talk to my sister in Illinois on FB and the phone.

I can't believe the weekend is over so fast. I'm doing rounds at the hospital New Years Eve and day.

I'll see you next weekend.
