The Washington Post reports that the 39th US president, Jimmy Carter, passed away on Sunday at his home in Plains, Georgia.

James E. Carter III, the son of the former president, confirmed that his father passed away earlier today at the age of 100.

He was the oldest living US president in history. Although his son confirmed the death, he did not provide an immediate cause.

In a statement in February 2023, the Carter Center said the former president, after a series of hospital stays, would stop further medical treatment and spend his remaining time at home under hospice care. He had been treated in recent years for an aggressive form of melanoma skin cancer, with tumors that spread to his liver and brain.

ZH added charts and stuff to the article. The inflation chart is impressive. They just lied about Prez Pedo's for the last four years. (Edit) It was higher than Carter's, the interest rates just didn't go as high. ZIRP fucked the US.

Carter really had things fucked up during his term. As I recall the going rate for a mortgage was ~18% back then.

My mother loaned me the money to build my house at ONLY 10%. I think it was about $20,000. Houses were built a lot different in those days. For one, they weren't half the size of a Lowe's store.

Some other presents Carter gave us:

Gave away the Panama Canal to China.
Arab oil embargo.
Weakened the US .mil to shit.
Dept. of Education.
Community Reinvestment Act.
EPA.
Dept. of Energy.

The price of regular gas in Chicago jumped to over $1/gal and gas stations were limiting people to 10 gallon purchases. ;)
